Media Studies Video Progress 3

Link Other classes are taking up my time. Will flash through the video quickly when the chance is available.

Audience Engagement 2

Discuss the ways audience consumption has changed over time. Use information from your case study and tie in one of the media areas: film, radio/podcast, music, video games, or print.  1)   a) Increased online time, rather than physical forms of media. - Mobile devices, such as smartphones, are becoming increasingly popular, while newspapers are on a downward trend.  b) More time using video as a media medium. - Video used to be a novelty in the earlier days of the weaker internet, but it is now one of the most consumed media types. c) High-Quality content is less important to success, especially to Millennials and Gen Z.  - Simple advertisements and short-form content has become popular. (i.e. TikTok over YouTube) 2) Nintendo is a long-lasting company, founded in 1889, and one of the most popular video game companies (not including other forms of media). It has constantly kept up with the most popular forms of advertising to its audience. In its early stages, i...

Audience Engagement 1

 1) While Minecraft/Microsoft has a media presence on most social media platforms, the main two are Twitter and YouTube. Microsoft, the company owning Minecraft, does have a large audience through Facebook and Instagram as well. 2) Microsoft often interacts with their Minecraft audience using a regular schedule of updates and news. Especially on YouTube, trailers and new content that is being added are uploaded and shown to fans every week on their official Minecraft Channel. On Twitter, a more direct approach is used, where fans have the opportunity to vote or voice their opinions on what should or should not be changed.  Nintendo is another company closely monitoring the needs of their audience, but they expanded much further than just one form of media, in their case just games. Film for video games are increasingly getting popular (i.e., Arcane, Edgerunners, The Last of Us show), and Nintendo was an early bird in creating film, such as short animated series for the Legend...

Week 3 Progress and Troubles

Video Link The biggest issue I am having with this project is the deadlines. I am not nearly as productive as I should be in this Project.  The one gleaming issue though is the fact that it is very hard to get my hands on a traditional tick clock, and it is hard to get really high angles of my room. It's pretty simple, but time was the issue. I went over to my grandparent's house, and I got a video of their clock, and I made a cool holder for my phone to tape to the walls and stuff. Not fancy, but it works.  I also had the issue of recording audio. iPhone and GoPro microphones are pretty bad, and I do have a mic, but it is difficult to record on a microphone meant for a computer., Though, I just bought an adaptor. Hopefully next week I'll get the motivation to record really good videos instead of some really bad ones.... D A TE :2/1-9 PROD.#: 3                   ...

The Straight Cut Transition

Image
 1) A Straight Cut Transition is simply one that switches from one shot to the next, with no other effects or visible edits made to indicate a changed transition. The Golden Standard right here. 2) Straight Cut Transitions are used by simply moving from one shot to the next. Because of this simplicity, it keeps continuity in the scene between shots. In addition, it also accurately connects the story and keeps the viewer focused on the plot or event rather than the visual transition effect as a distraction. 3) A jump shot is very similar to a straight cut, except it is much more noticeable, as it creates a bigger effect of a jump forward in time or a way to show progress. A dissolve shot blends a shot with the shot following it as a transition, and these are super apparent as it is vital for the viewer to know that a new scene will be following from the previous one’s. It may also mean a pause into a black or white screen, or a pause in general, still for the same purpose, however t...

Film Transitions

Image
Film transitions are the ways film producers put the clips together, even before another film editing.  Film transitions are used because they are the way a film moves from one scene to the next. It also conveys the finer details of a story, such as an idea, for example, time flow or tone. Film transitions can be done with a pause, cut, dissolve, jump cuts, etc.  Some examples of a video transition would be the straight cut, A-B cut, fades, etc. With sound, a video transition could appear smoother, connecting the two clips. In conjunction with film transitions, J and L cuts are done and keep a sense of continuity.

Film Editing

Image
 1) Film editing is the part of production and mostly post-production that is up to the producer and director of putting the final video and clips together. This usually means the cuts and composition of the video and audio.  An example of physical film being cut and put together. 2) A film editor is the one in charge of film editing, a process described above. He is taking the ideas of the director and producers into reality, such as the tone needed to be portrayed. He often takes the raw footage into entire scenes. 3) Film editing has mostly stayed the same throughout the years, which at its core is putting the film recorded together, what to add and what to remove. Recently, digital film edits such as CGI or special filters are used much more to enhance a viewing experience, as well as making the process much more easier and much more quality.

Media Studies Week 1 Progress

Video Link  - YouTube  This week, even for a pre-production week, I planned most of it. Even before physically making sure my notes and clips are to be filmed or even written out, I had to plan it mentally. Using my treatment, I thought deep about what I wanted this video to be about and what I need to portray through my choice of clips and editing.   A weekly progress video doesn't really show what kind of progress has been made, especially on paper or on film. So this video of what the music choice will be and the flow of the video is what is going to be uploaded for now. However, this upcoming week, the first half of the video will be recorded properly, and made sure that the the base clips are excellent. The end of that week and after, the clips will be transitioned together. The creation of a template in video form is pretty helpful, especially with figuring out the flow, pace, and length the video clip.  This Week's Shot List D A TE :1/23-30 ...
