Audience Engagement 3

Intended Audience) - Other students and those following a rough or exhausting workforce.  Social Group and Issue Representation) - Because of my intended audience, the social group I intend to represent are other students and those working in jobs that do not offer a good work-life balance. As a result, I also represent the issues of the stressful modern lives many people live, which is many times unavoidable. The intention is to at the very least enjoy the things we have at our disposal, as well as to identify the things in our lives that trouble us. Relatability) - Because of the nature of modern society and the drive and expectations to succeed with hard work, in one way or the other, this will have an effect on every working or studying body watching this video.  This is because enjoying life is most likely the goal for human beings, and one of the biggest obstacles and challenges in most lives is from the combination of both work and personal lives. My film intro focuses ...

Distributing Media and Advertisements.

How would you distribute your product as real media?  What 3 forms of advertisement would you use to promote your video? Why would you use these forms of advertisement? 1) Video Advertisement - Given that this is a film, a video advertisement through a trailer would be effective in portraying the film itself visually and audibly.  2) Social Media  - Social media is a wide and expansive way to reach potentially millions of people. If you were a big-time moviemaker, the film you made would have been heavily invested in, and properly reaching out to as many people as you can could would make the production worthwhile.  3) Billboards and Posters - External (or out of online/on a screen) advertisement is also effective done right. Physically going to out to social gatherings and seeing an advertisement for a film could spark conversation about the film, or at least ingrain itself into the heads of people.   Name at least 3 ways you would distr...

Issues and Solutions with my Final Video

Issues) Resolution  Quality Processing Power Single Producer Resolution) One of the biggest issues during this was the absence of my GoPro, due to its issues. For the most part, large cinematic views/changing resolutions would be pretty difficult with an iPhone, but I made do with it. Quality) In addition to the resolution, the quality of the videos also suffered. iPhones are generally pretty good at taking still pictures and videos, but with scenes with high movement, closeups, poorer lighting, or far-away zoomed scenes, the quality can be terrible. To counteract this, there are some online services as well as built-in Premiere Pro effects that can make the appearance of low-quality video less obvious. This was only my last resort though since the GoPro dying was not expected.  Processing Power) Many editing software and software that uses effects or uses high quality or large file-sized clips rely heavily on the processing power of your PC. No workaround for this witho...

Progress Video 5

Video  Link For the most part, the issues with filming and camera steadiness were fixed with better angles and some editing using warp stabilizer and zoom effects. The main issues this week are with framerate and quality, both of which are out of my control due to my weaker hardware, though color corrections and some fancy effects could make the appearance of such a bit less visible.  In addition to the weaker hardware, heavy editing or nested edits are very hard for my computer to process and render, making minor changes almost impossible to regularly create.  This week, I quickly edited the first 30 seconds of the video to be completely finished. The overall resolution and template are also now set in stone.  Editing is kept simple, following a set template of a cinematic bar/resolution and regular zooms that make the video appear smoother, but still natural. Filming was also simpler this week as well. In the following days, most of the raw video will be recorded a...

Intro Video Plot and Story

The bulk of the story would come in the would be full film. The introduction serves to show as a piece of background as well as a piece of foreshadowing, especially with many ideas and symbolic shots in the film. One of the biggest things that changed from the treatment to now is the angle shot choice, as well as higher focus on my mise-en-scene, due to my lack of manpower in filming motion heavy scenes. The overall theme and story stayed the same, and not many initial scenes are shots were removed or changed drastically. However, I did include many more details around the background instead, almost symbolizing tunnel vision, such as the inclusion of messier settings, red computer screen, hidden stacks of colored clothes, and many there. The story is that of a boy stuck blinded by the monotony and everyday of life. We are walked through the experience of their routine and we see the small decisions they make that make his life the same everyday, despite a way out. By a miracle, a ...

Characters in my Introduction Video

Being fully produced  by myself, the only character will be myself. I could have multiple characters, but due to me having only one body, it would be impossible for same shot interactions. Character - Unnamed teenage boy. Played by - Myself. Chosen as my only option. Why?) Although I did not choose myself to fit the film, I chose the film theme based off of myself. I used to be like my character in the video, and the ultimate theme comes from my own success in finding friends and happiness in the little things of my stage in life. At the very least, I was my own inspiration for the film for an audience watching a more philosophical video. Costume and Appearance)  Wearing a dark hoodie and a pair of blue soccer socks and shorts.  This choice is important in telling the story, especially in the "dark" sense of sadness. There is a shot of the character choosing and switching between different clothing, but even among colorful choices, they ultimately go back to the dark colo...

Media Representation

 3) In films and media, there are always stereotypes and misinformed representations of groups of people, especially at the most basic level of gender. In modern times, sexuality is becoming less of an ignored topic in media. However, stereotypes are stereotypes because they are constantly portrayed as so in media, and these representations of both male and female roles can often change a person's values and beliefs into these roles over time. Similarly, LGBTQ+ representation in film has become much more prevalent in media, since traditionally, LGBTQ+ representations were ignored or negatively/falsely portrayed, and as we can see in social media, people who see LGBTQ+ as a rare or harmful idea have been influenced by the older media representations.  Because of this, films and media that break these stereotypes or accurately portray a group of people are praised, as many of their frustrations with stereotypes were realized. Progress Video 4

Link Sound Issues - Background Noise is a huge problem when recording audio. I do not have a noise-suppressing room nor the proper microphone attachments and hardware to block out some of these noises. Manually editing out background noise is the only way to fix this. Editing Problems - Resolution is an issue, as changing or adjusting the resolution of different clips to different resolutions and sizes is a point in the project as a whole. Filming Issues -  The tape and cardboard technique did not work. Very hard to film steady high-angle shots without some cool clips or stands. Also, my hand is shaky and GoPro broke.
